The Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) is a set of standards for statutory and mandatory training for healthcare professionals in the UK. It was developed by Skills for Health, a non-profit organisation that provides workforce development solutions for the health sector.
The CSTF consists of 11 subjects that cover essential skills and knowledge for safe and effective practice. They are:
Equality, diversity and human rights
Health, safety and welfare
NHS conflict resolution
Fire safety
Infection prevention and control
Moving and handling
Safeguarding adults
Preventing radicalisation
Safeguarding children
Resuscitation
Information governance
The CSTF sets out minimum learning outcomes, frequency of refresher training and links to relevant legislation or expert guidance for each subject. Employers that align their training to the CSTF can be confident in the quality and consistency of their training, and reduce unnecessary duplication of training when staff move between organisations.
