Panel Members
Panel members’ backgrounds include NHS, private & voluntary sector directors, execu ves and managers; and registered members of the occupa ons on HPAC. They handle serious complaints about the fitness to prac se of registrants and consider registra on appeals.
Panel members can be involved at two stages of the fitness to prac se process:
- When a complaint is inves gated. When a complaint is received it is passed to an ‘inves ga ng panel’ who sit in private and examine the facts and decides whether to take the case further.
- When a complaint reaches the hearing stage. Panels hear evidence and decide whether a HPAC registrant’s fitness to prac se is impaired and if ac on is taken to protect the public.
The Panel also leads on policy and procedure regarding HPAC’s governance of its registrants and organisa onal use of the system. It also helps define the expected standards as well as the terms of reference for the varying qualifica ons registrants refer to on their registra on profiles.
